- Sonia is the Head of the Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance Reference Laboratory (ARSRL) housed in the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).

- Under her leadership, she efficiently oversees a large network of public healthcare facilities nationwide encompassing 26 sentinel sites working together to study the prevailing status of antibiotic resistance.
- She serves as principal investigator on various laboratory operational management and AMR studies and projects.
